At our January monthly meeting, we heard from Ranger Jay about the ‘Perfect Predator,’ which surprisingly is the much-overlooked Dragonfly. Now we join Ranger Emily to find out the spooky happenings in ‘Into the Night.’
‘Into the Night: Shedding Light on Big Cypress' Darkest Hours’
Big Cypress National Preserve is breathtaking during the day, giving us a taste of the wildness of South Florida and protecting a variety of endangered species. During the night, Big Cypress may seem eerie, filled with unnerving sounds and spooky shadows. However, if we dig deeper, Big Cypress comes alive at night with creatures coming out to hunt, mate, avoid predators, and... pollinate? With Ranger Emily, we will discover the beauties and mysteries of the night, including the importance of the nighttime to the endangered Ghost Orchid.
For these few short months, we are delighted to be working with our NPS Rangers at the Big Cypress National Preserve to offer you lectures on a variety of topics (see attachment). They wowed us with their presentations during our 37th Annual South Regional Conference and we couldn’t resist having them back. We hope you will tune in to hear them.
