Meet at the Nature Center for an easy trail clearing/clean up activity! Bring clipping tools if you have them and gloves. We'll just be doing a quick overlook to make sure the trails look good for Earth Day. Then hang around for all the Earth Day activities if you like. If interested, you can check with Paul about helping man the FTA display for the festivities.
The Okeeheelee Earth Day celebration is from 10:00 to 3:00 if you can't make the clip and walk but would like to stop by... it is FREE!
A number of environmental groups and nonprofit organizations, like us, will have exhibits. Naturalists will lead butterfly and bird walks. You can watch wildlife presentations and a slide show on the history of the nature center, which opened 30 years ago. You can get a close-up view of a composting display and an owl pellet dissection.
You can enjoy special appearances by costumed characters; the Muck Monster of Lake Worth Lagoon, Oakly the Squirrel and the owl-like Professor Screech as well as the PBSO Therapy Dog Unit and Mounted Unit.
There will also be food vendors!
