Come along as we go on a ‘Bat Talk and Night Hike’ with a Miami-Dade County Parks naturalist at the Castellow Hammock Preserve & Nature Center! This two-hour tour includes an indoor presentation on these misunderstood but vitally important mammals, to be followed by a night hike during which our guide will use special acoustic devices to listen for bat calls which are often indiscernible to the human ear. We will gain an understanding of the 13 species of bats which call Florida home! Some roost in caves, others in mosses and trees such as our palms and mangroves, some choose abandoned buildings while others migrate! By the end of the evening I’m sure we’ll all gain an appreciation for our insect-eating friends and Mother Nature’s busy pollinators!
Activity is open to members and friends of all ages!
