Dear members and friends of the Big Cypress,
It’s a Tree-Planting and Native Plant Give-Away!!!
We as hikers very much value some tree cover when we’re out on the trail, and we all know that broad-leafed trees (not palm trees) generate the oxygen we breath. In the spirit of celebrating Earth Day April 22nd, we are collaborating with the Miami-Dade County Parks (MDCP) in their efforts to improve tree cover in areas where it is very much needed.
There is space for up to 20 volunteers to help install 40 mature trees to increase the tree canopy in the community - currently around 8%, which is below the County’s goal of a 30% tree canopy for a healthy, shaded region.
With the generous support of their sponsors – FedEx and Rotary Club, who have provided funding for the trees, we the leadership of the BC Chapter, along with the staff of the MDCP, ask you to join us on this specially-arranged project as we GIVE BACK!
