Big Cypress revisits Gator Hook!!
For those of you who waded through it last December, here’s the chance to walk it when it’s dry..or…almost dry!
We are looking for a maximum of 10 participants for this hike. Join Activity Leader George on the trail…
Difficulty Rating: Moderately Strenuous due to the nature of the foot path and remoteness. This is not a tram. Pace will be leisurely.
While the path significantly dried down, expect to get your shoes wet wading across the narrow strand in several spots. The path is narrow with sections starting with karst hopscotching, then cypress knees and always an 'eyes on the trail' path so as not to trip.
The first mile of this trail is full of holes and a few minor mud spots. The second mile is mostly elevated and dry with some deep holes to wade through.
The trail is under canopy except for perhaps a 1/8th mile marl prairie section within the first mile.
