Join us for one of our last events for the year. This time we are showcasing the very interesting history of the island of Key Biscayne and of Crandon Park. Hear how this barrier island went from mangroves and wildlife to condos and tennis courts, parks and must-visit beaches!
Begin by parking at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center at the north parking lot entrance. We will walk the length of Crandon Park discovering the lost zone called the ‘Playland’ where a forgotten skating rink and kiddie rides used to entertain thousands!
Then it’s off to the cabanas and the gardens of Crandon originally known as the Crandon Park Zoo. We will finish at the Fossilized Reef View (about 1/2 mile from where our cars will be parked.) Consider bringing a picnic lunch or eating at the nearby concessionaire.
