Join the Next Generation Coalition and the Florida Trail Association Heartland Chapter for a trail maintenance event along the Florida Trail section of the Green Swamp!
This event will be beginner friendly, so first-timers are welcome! We will be using a combination of hand tools and power tools to bring the trail back up to standard. FTA will provide the campsites, all meals Friday dinner through Sunday lunch, and all the tools and training needed to do trail maintenance!
Our crew will be camping at Withlacoochee River Park near Dade City. The Withlacoochee River runs through the park with an abundance of wildlife to see such as bald eagles, turkey, bob cat, river otters, gopher tortoises, and more! There is also an observation tower, an orienteering course, and trails totaling 13 miles. The camping is semi-primitive - the campsite will not have electric or water, but offers easy access to your vehicle, and is in close proximity to the restroom/shower facility.
Plan to arrive no earlier than 4pm on Friday, March 8th to set up camp and have dinner with the crew. Registering for Friday lets us know that you'll be joining us for dinner. Our workdays will be Saturday and Sunday. We start trail work at 8am and usually end between 2pm-3pm.
